Some oilfields in China operate under extreme conditions, where high
temperatures and high salinity pose significant challenges to equipment
maintenance and crude oil production. A Xinjiang oilfield had long been
plagued by reservoir temperatures of 9
2°C
and a salinity level of 8.5%, resulting in frequent scaling in the
circulating water system. This not only caused persistently high gas
injection pressure but also drastically reduced oil recovery efficiency,
leading to annual economic losses exceeding ten million yuan due to
equipment failures and production capacity losses.
After unsuccessful
attempts with multiple conventional chemicals, the oilfield partnered
with Kairui Chemical. Kairui's technical team conducted on-site
investigations, including two weeks of water sampling analysis and
operational condition surveys. They developed a customized solution
featuring a blend of
HEDP and
OA-12
additives. Leveraging HEDP's exceptional chelating properties, this
solution firmly binds calcium and magnesium ions in high-temperature,
high-salinity environments, effectively preventing scale formation.
Concurrently, the OA-12 additive enhances the chemical's stability and
dispersibility, preventing scale adhesion to pipeline walls.
Upon
implementation, the results were immediate: injection pressure decreased
by 23%, oil recovery efficiency increased by 18%, and equipment
cleaning cycles extended from 30 to 90 days, saving the oilfield over 3
million yuan annually in operational costs. The oilfield manager
remarked, “Kairui Chemical's HEDP solution not only resolved our
long-standing challenge but also demonstrated the immense potential of
specialty chemical products under extreme operating conditions.”
