Hydrazine hydrate can mix with water and ethanol in any proportion and is not soluble in chloroform and ether. When it comes into contact with carbon dioxide in the air, it can produce white smoke. It has weak alkalinity and strong reducing properties. It reacts with acids and can be combusted by oxidants. It is used as:
